ENFP - INTJ Relationship: Is it Special?
Well, yes and no. Yes, it is special, but not uniquely so. Also there may be another relationship that is even better.

When comparing ENFP and INTJ, notice that all letters change except the second one. Two points about changing just one letter:
  1. Changing all letters but this one creates a harmonious relationship, not only for ENFP or INTJ, but for any type.
  2. This is just one of three ways you can change letters. Looking at the other ways is instructive also.
So let's look at what happens when you keep just one letter the same.

Keep only the first letter:
INTJ
Ni*
Te
Fi
Se
ISFP
Fi
Se
Ni
Te
All functions the same.
All functions the same provides considerable commonality, but each is good at something the other is bad at (4th function), so they can tend to see the other as pathetic at times. Ideally they help one another with the 4th function, provided they can get over how bad the other is at it.

Keep only the second letter:
INTJ
Ni
Te
Fi
Se
ENFP
Ne
Fi
Te
Si
Sharing judging functions.
Sharing all judging functions, but no perceiving ones is delightful because it means both can bring in different perceptions/data, from which they reach similar conclusions. That the lead perceiving function is Intuitive helps even more.

Keep only the third letter:
INTJ
Ni
Te
Fi
Se
ESTP
Se
Ti
Fe
Ni
Sharing perceiving functions.
Sharing all perceiving functions, but not the judging ones leads to seeing the other as missing the boat/not understanding what is important because they have the same data, but reach opposite conclusions.

Keep only the fourth letter:
INTJ
Ni
Te
Fi
Se
ESFJ
Fe
Si
Ne
Ti
Sharing no functions.
No functions in common is a relationship of conflict. Both parties perceive things differently and judge them differently as well, making understanding difficult. In addition, there is more difference in the types of the leading functions. One's leading perceptive function is Intuitive, the other's Sensing. One's leading judging function is Thinking, the other's Feeling.

Let's try it with another type, say INFP.

INFP

What about INTJ and INFP together?
INFP

Sharing judging functions.
Sharing all judging functions, but no perceiving ones is delightful because it means both can bring in different perceptions/data, from which they reach similar conclusions. That the lead perceiving function is Intuitive helps even more.
So, potentially, for compatibility, one should look at keeping the first two letters the same and changing the latter two.
